Hundreds of people march for days to make their voices heard and to demand their regularisation after years of waiting. Upon arriving at a former monastery, they are invited to rest and eat. The next day, they will continue their journey. This silent film carefully observes a group of undocumented people. In its silence, Carry On accentuates the contrast between their quiet presence and the intense, often unseen pressures they endure.
“Carry On documents a rare moment of relaxation, after a long collective march. It’s amazing how Mieriën manages to find the right distance from the people he films. Tired faces, looks lost in the void, a young man who smiles. Needless to mention the beauty of the shots, a kind of photogénie close to the close-ups of silent cinema.”
