Focus: 3x Chantal Akerman

The oeuvre of Belgian filmmaker Chantal Akerman is being celebrated this year by several cultural institutions such as Bozar, Cinematek and Argos. In light of these retrospectives, Avila releases three impressive documentaries. From the East (1993) traverses former Soviet territories after the fall of the Berlin Wall, South (1999) travels through the South of the United States after a black man was brutally murdered by three white men, and From the Other Side (2002) shows the harsh reality of Mexican migrants crossing the border into the United States. The documentary trilogy is available by title for video-on-demand in the Benelux countries on Avila and can be discovered as part of the Chantal Akerman Collection. This collection consists of ten films and works its way through Chantal Akerman's rich oeuvre, from her first short film Saute ma ville (1968) to her last film No Home Movie (2015).
