Thomas de Thier
Thomas de Thier (Belgium, 1966) is a Belgian director whose films often explore the loss of childhood and the confrontation of the imaginary with the real. After being expelled from film school, he decided to discover the art of cinema himself, devouring films by Godard, Hitchcock and Malick in the halls of the Musée du cinéma. In 1990 he made his debut with Je suis votre voisin, a film he co-directed with Karine de Villers, which won the FIPA d’Or in Cannes. His later works, such as Échographie and Des plumes dans la tête, testify to his idiosyncratic and poetic approach to cinema.
