Laure Portier was born in 1983 in Deux-Sèvres. After a degree in Modern Literature in Toulouse and a year at ESAV, she joined INSAS in Brussels. After graduating, she became a camera assistant and worked on several feature-length fiction films. In 2019, she presented her first short film, The Dog's Eye, winner of the Short Film Prize at the Cinéma du Réel festival. Soy Libre is her first feature film.
Filmmaker Laure Portier follows her little brother Arnaud for almost ten years in a quest for freedom and identity. After a turbulent childhood, Arnaud must face a predestined fate. A moving, intimate portrait of a struggling soul, exploring family ties and the emancipating power of cinema.
