Marthe Perret

Marthe Perret (Rennes, 1999) studied at the University of Paris (Sorbonne) before pursuing film studies at the KASK School of Arts in Ghent, Belgium. She lives and works in Brussels, where she collaborates with other filmmakers on documentary projects as director of photography (As Far As We Imagine by Raouf Moussa) and editor (Kopiraet, An van Dienderen and Hugo de Block). Mercedes as Butterfly (2024) is her first documentary short.

On the eve of a Roma wedding in France, a group of women gathers to talk about their dreams, traditions, and desires of freedom and self-expression. This intimate documentary moves to the rhythms of flamenco, while it explores questions of heritage, identity, and emancipation.
