Benoît Dervaux

Benoît Dervaux (Belgium, 1966) graduated in 1990 from the Institut des Arts de Diffusion (IAD) in Louvain-la-Neuve. He began his career as a camera-assistant, cameraman and director of photography on several documentaries. Very quickly integrated into the Strip-tease teams (RTBF and France 3), he leaves for Romania to follow street children. This is how his first documentary, Gigi, Monica... et Bianca (1996), came into being. Appreciating his work, the Dardenne brothers asked him as a cameraman for La promesse (1996). Ever since, he has been the cameraman for their fiction films: Rosetta (1999), Le fils (2002), L’enfant (2005), Le silence de Lorna (2008), Le gamin au vélo (2011), Deux jours, une nuit (2014). Meanwhile, he develops his own documentary oeuvre and teaches at the IAD.
